Volkswagen developed new turbocharged fours with 1,5 liters of the swept volume. Petrol and diesel units will be used on already existing models of makes belonging to the concern. The periodical Auto Express reports about this fact as referred to its own sources.
The gasoline engine will replace the unit 1,4 TSI of the lineup, that is installed, for example, on Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia. The engine is assumed to debut with updated “Golf” before the end of the current year.
The new turbo diesel will replace the “heavy fuel” engine with the working volume of 1,6 liters. This unit will debut with the restyled modification of hatchback Audi A3 in the end of the 2017. At the same time, most likely, it will not appear on “Golf”.
All these engines are classified with consideration for the requirements for the level of polluting emissions that will be introduced from the 2020.
“To install these engines on current Golf and A3 will not be of any difficulty. Although the engines are completely new, their sizes are identical with the units which we use now, therefore it will be simple to install them during a facelift,” – told the interlocutor of Auto Express.
After its facelift, Volkswagen Golf will also get the new liter engine, the capacity of which is 115 horse powers. This engine will replace the unit 1,2. On top of all of that, “Golf” will get one more “supercharged” modification fit with an engine of 420 horse powers.
