Official details: SLS 63 AMG – The new ‘Gullwing’ from Mercedes-Benz

We have brought you different sets of spy photos of the upcoming SLS AMG “Gullwing” that so far was speculated to be called SLC.

Believe it or not, but Daimler has released a whole load of information about this future supercar that will be launched in spring 2010.

It is the first vehicle in company’s history developed by the performance brand AMG.

Mercedes SLS 63 AMG will be built on aluminum spaceframe body with gullwing doors. Power will come from AMG’s 6.3-liter V8 with front-mid configuration that develops 571 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque at 4750 rpm. Power is sent to rear wheels via seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

SLS 63 AMG accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds while the top speed is 315 km/h. For excellent braking it comes with ceramic brakes. These brakes also combine an impressive weight reduction of around 40 % compared to standard brakes.

The driver will be offered a choice between four different driving modes, ranging from comfortable to extremely sporty, as well as a RACESTART function. For all the specific details we suggest you take a look at the press release below after the images.

Mercedes hopes to finish testing of the SLS 63 AMG by the end of 2009. Hopefully by that time we know how the production model will look like.
