Best-Selling Car Brands: Canada, February 2015

110,000 new cars were sold in Canada in February 2015, which is 3500 (3%) more than in the same month of the previous year.

In spite of a 9% drop Ford occupies the first line of the ranking for the second consecutive month.

The fastest-growing brand was definitely Lincoln with its 138% increase. The second place belongs to Mini (+96.8%), then come Chrysler (+43.5%), GMC (+31.5%), Volkswagen (+26.2%), Nissan (+20%), and Toyota (+19.6%). Smart with a 54.7% decrease is on the bottom of the list together with Buick (-38.8%), Mitsubishi (-29.2%), Cadillac (-18.4%), Volvo (-15.9%), and Dodge (-15.2%).

Having outsold Mercedes-Benz, BMW proudly holds the title of the top premium brand

(2318 and 2598 sold cars respectively). Lincoln, Lexus, and Acura showed above-average improvements.

Having said this, it’s important to point out that typically the first two months of the year Canada doesn’t see a lot of auto deals. Due to snowfalls and intensely cold weather January and February usually account for less than 10% of a year’s worth of car sales. So it’s hardly a surprise that automakers anticipate strong March and April 2015. Typically March and April figures are really great in case the beginning of a year was cold and snowy.
