Irv Gordon — who as the first person to drive two million miles in the same car and has taken more road trips than anybody — has some advice for families preparing a summer vacation on the road: ditch the fancy resorts and theme parks and take a drive to a small town.
Gordon, a retired science teacher from Long Island, New York, clocked his historic two millionth mile in his shiny red 1966 Volvo P1800 in 2002 while driving down Times Square in New York City. He is only 300,000 miles from reaching the 3 million mile mark. When I think of Volvo I think of something very practical. Now check out this custom XC70 pickup. It was built by a Swedish company called Dalbo Fordonsteknik.
It sure is not El Camino or Falcon not even a new Pontiac G8 pickup, but it sure has its own unique lines and thats what makes it interesting. Maybe Volvo should try something totally new and introduce a Volvo pickup? Or even a bigger pickup based on XC90?

The V70 is the fifth Volvo model to receive the R-Design package and will be launched in the UK in August with prices starting from £26,745 for the V70 2.0 petrol R-DESIGN. Price for the regular V70 is around £2,000 less.
Volvo cars have always been practical, safe and usually boring. With the R-Design it is far from being boring. I would say it is very stylish in its own way and I would not mind driving it at all. Plenty of room, plenty of power with style. Swedes would probably just say förfinad!

Ford Motor Co. surprised Wall Street on Thursday with a $100 million profit in the first quarter as strong results from Europe and South America helped offset the impact of a slumping U.S. economy that cut car and truck sales in its main market. Its shares rose almost 6 percent.
It was the company’s first profitable quarter since the second quarter of 2007, when it earned $750 million. Ford reported a full-year loss of $2.7 billion last year, and cautioned that the rest of this year will be tough.

The 3.2-liter engine produces 235 horsepower that is seamlessly transferred through all four wheels via Volvo’s electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system.
