Toyota PriusHonda Insight is a hybrid, so is the Toyota Prius. (note: Toyota is already testing plug-in hybrid in UK).

The upcoming Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in electric car with a range around 40 miles. Even though automakers all plan on building EVs over the next few years Honda does not believe in it.

In a recent interview with Automotive news, Honda R&D chief Masaaki Kato says Honda has no plans to produce an electric car. They will stick to the hybrid at the moment.

Toyota launches plug-in Prius hybrid road trial in UK

Toyota plug-in HybridEDF Energy and Toyota have teamed up to road trial the first Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV) introduced by a car manufacturer to the UK. Trials started yesterday and will continue for more than one year. Toyota’s right-hand drive PHV will make its on-the-road debut as part of EDF Energy’s company fleet and will be tested by employees under every-day driving conditions.

Toyota has already been testing the plug-in version of Hybrid on public roads in Japan and US for a while.

2010 Toyota Prius spied

2010 Toyota Prius spiedToyota is testing the third generation Prius. Photos we managed to get are not in best quality as the car was too far and there was no way to get closer.

What we can already tell that Toyota stais true to the current shape. Rumor is though that the car is little wider and shorter than the current Prius.

Custom Toyota PriusProbably the most extreme work on Prius we have seen so far was the Prius Convertible.Now three Swedes have built the most extreme Toyota Prius in the world!

This custom built hybrid took them around 1000 hours and 1 million Swedish Krons(around €105,000). The result? Most extreme hybrid ricer!
