9ff has been working on the GT9 for a while with a plan to make it the fastest production car in the world (how much of a production car it is is up to you to decide) Now they claim that GT9 has hit 409 km/h (253 mph). That is 2 km faster than the Veyron. Currently the world record is set by the SSC Ultimate Aero that hit 255.83 mph (411.7 km/h).
GT9 is based on the Porsch 911 GT3, but in fact it shares just a very small percentage of its components. It is lower, longer and the engine sits in the middle not at the rear.
Money can not buy you any brain cells as this driver/owner must be a total idiot.
He is risking his life and OTHERS as well while driving over 200 mph on a public road in Arizona.
Sure the sound of the car is nice on the video, but a smart person would find a track or a closed road for a test like this. We hope the Arizona state police will identify the driver and make sure he does not get behind the wheel for a long time.
A world-record speed of 330.6 km/h (205.2 mph) set on the high-speed test track in Nardo, Italy; BRABUS added to its extensive collection of automotive records with a Maybach 57 powered by a 730-hp (720 hp SAE net) / 537-kW BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine. It is the world’s fastest and most exclusive ultra-luxury sedan. The BRABUS engineers and test drivers bested their own record set in 2005 when a Maybach 57 powered by a BRABUS SV12 Biturbo engine with 640 hp (631 hp SAE net) / 471 kW was clocked at 314 km/h (195 mph).
Nardo, the legendary high speed track, has been the setting for so many record attempts. Once a year at the track in Southern Italy, under the supervision of “CONTINENTAL AG” and in collaboration with the editors of “AUTO BILD sportscars”, the Creme de la Creme of tuners fight it out – this year on 20th and 21st October 2007. AC Schnitzer, with its Concept Car GP3.10 GAS POWERED, was the world’s first company to turn the event motto “Beyond 300 km/h” into reality with a liquid gas powered vehicle. At the end of the GPS speed measurement on the 13 km long high speed track, which fundamentally is just an enormous circle, the digital instrument display read 318.1 km/h. Read more »
