This undisguised 3008 was spotted in the eastern France revealing also the inside of the car. 3008 will compete right against the small 4*4s like Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Tiguan and Ford Kuga.

Styling is quit similar to its big brother, the 4007. Rumor is that the 3008 will be offered in five and seven-seat configurations. Power will come from a 1.6-liter turbocharged four cylinder gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter HDI diesel. Base models will only get the front wheel drive, 4WD will be optional.

European giants FIAT and Peugeot/Citroen merging?

Rumors abound that PSA, the French conglomerate that is Citroen and Peugeot, and FIAT, the Italian auto giant, are in merger talks.

This comes on the heels of a statement by FIAT chairman Sergio Marchionne that to survive the global economic downturn, FIAT would need to merge.

The possible merger would make it the world’s fourth largest auto manufacturer, behind Toyota, GM, and Ford.

Winner of the 2008 Peugeot Design Contest is RD

The Peugeot judging panel, which met on 2 October 2008, nominated RD as the winner of this fifth Peugeot Design Contest. Ego and OXO complete this victory podium.

Around 100 nationalities proposed more than 2500 designs. The general-public voting phase, which took place from 15 August to 15 September on the Make’s institutional website, ended with more than 132,000 votes for this fifth Peugeot Design Contest.

Paris 2008: Peugeot HYmotion3 compressor concept

According to Peugeot HYmotion3 compressor is something between a scooter and the car. Hymotion hybrid/petrol technology creates a three wheel drive vehicle, benefiting safety and driveability and combining economy with an environmentally-friendly specification (CO2 emissions of only 47 g/km in the combined cycle, zero in electric only mode).

Its design is based on three wheels for maximum stability, safety and driveability. Its width of 82 cm enables it to thread a path through urban traffic with all the efficiency of a two-wheeler. The front windscreen extends to the rear of the vehicle to form a highly effective shield against bad weather for the rider and passenger.

5th Peugeot Design Competition : 10 best projects are herePublic voting for the 5th Peugeot Design Competition ended on 15th September. Over 132,000 votes were received.

On 2nd October 2008, on the Peugeot stand at the Paris Motor Show, Mr Jean-hilippe Collin, Peugeot CEO, will award the “la Griffe” trophy to the winner, who will see his project produced as a 1/1 scale model for the Shanghai Motor Show in the spring of 2009 and will also receive the sum of €10,000. The names of the other two finalists will be announced at the same time.

According to Peugeot PROLOGUE proposes an innovative combination of ideas at a number of different levels: its architecture, its style, its interior ambience, its modularity, its original high-tech equipment and also its new generation hybrid technology.

Prologue’s 147kW (200 bhp) engine offers great performance combined with significantly reduced CO 2 emissions: 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero in electric only mode!

Peugeot 908 HDi FAP hybridPeugeot Sport will profit from the final round of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone to unveil a 908 HDi FAP equipped with hybrid power featuring a kinetic energy recovery system.

The 908 HY will be shown in a new, specific silver-grey livery and will provide a foretaste of what Peugeot’s next endurance racing challenger could resemble, although its use will depend on the regulations that will govern LMP1 cars from 2009.

The “RC…”, which its full name will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show, is a concept car born from the passion and expertise of Peugeot’s stylists and engineers. This “GT” coupe is the missing link between the RC ♠ et ♦ concept cars revealed in 2002 and the 908 RC, one of the stars of the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

It is a real laboratory of future ideas, bringing together numerous stylistic, engineering and technological ideas in a single vehicle.

Peugeot 908 Hdi hits the wall at 120 mph
Last weekend at the 24 hours of Le Mans driver Marc Gene lost control of Peugeot 908 Hdi and hit the wall at over 120 mph.
It seems that the car caught some air underneath and lost control and ended up flying towards the wall.

The good news is that the driver is ok and was even able to walk away from what was left of the car and will be racing again soon.

Peugeot announces 308 RC Z Concept is to enter production

As part of the CAP 2010 project and the acceleration of the Marque’s product offer, Mr Jean-Philippe Collin, Director General of Automobiles Peugeot, announced today at the Lisbon Motor Show that the RC Z Concept Car will be going into full production.

The final production model will be unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, i.e. two years after the concept car was first presented to the public and will then go on sale in the spring of 2010.

Frankfurt Preview: Peugeot 308 Hybrid HDi gets 69 mpg

French automaker Peugeot will be showing the latest iteration of their diesel-hybrid demonstration vehicles at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. Previously they had shown a 307 and also Citroen C4 with a diesel parallel hybrid powertrain. The new car is based on the recently-introduced 308 which is a C-Class-sized car similar to the Ford Focus or Chevy Cobalt.
