BMW brought its not-for-sale-in-America 118d five-door to New York City to claim the 2008 World Green Car award… and that’s probably the only time we’ll ever see the thing on US soil.
Immediately following the event, BMW packed up the car and put it on the boat back to Germany. For some reason it won’t be sold in the U.S.

Hyundai unveiled Genesis Coupe, the new benchmark for attainable 300-horsepower sport coupes, during a press conference at the New York International Auto Show today.
The 2010 Genesis Coupe is a purpose-built rear-wheel drive sport coupe featuring two performance-focused engines - a 212-horsepower (est.), 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a range-topping all-aluminum, 306-horsepower (est.), DOHC 3.8-liter V6 engine. Genesis Coupe is scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces the display of the i MiEV*1 new-generation electric vehicle at the New York International Automobile Show. The company plans to use the vehicles in a joint fleet testing program in cooperation with select U.S. power companies in the fall of this year. At the show, which opened to the press on March 19 and will open to the public on March 21, the company’s booth is given over to a wide range of exhibits that demonstrate MMC’s advanced environmental technology.

Ferrari officially premieres today in North America the 2008 612 Scaglietti, the model used to inaugurate the new One-to-One Personalization Program of the Company.
Ferrari intends to allow every client to fully personalise this flagship model, courtesy of a wide array of new content as well as the options available through the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Programme.

V8 powered supercar boasts 650 horses and 630 lb-ft of torque.

NEW YORK – Following its world premiere at the Geneva auto show earlier this month, the award-winning Saab 9-X BioHybrid premium compact concept is scheduled to make its American debut at the New York International Auto Show media days, beginning March 19.
“After its stunning performance in Geneva, we can’t wait to show the 9-X BioHybrid to the press and public here in America,” said Steve Shannon, Saab Automobile USA general manager.

NEW YORK – Today Pontiac announced the flagship of its GXP performance series, the G8 GXP high-performance sedan, at the New York Auto Show. This 2009 model will join the Solstice, G6 and Torrent GXP models in Pontiac dealerships in late 2008.
