Lotus EvoraNew sports car by Lotus will not be called Eagle as everyone thought until today.

Today Lotus unveiled Evora. It is the first all-new Lotus since the iconic Elise made its debut in 1995, The Evora enters the sports car market as currently the world’s only mid-engined 2+2.

Powered by a Lotus-tuned 3.5-litre V6 Toyota engine producing 280 PS, and weighing just 1350 kg (prototype specification), the Evora promises breathtaking performance.

Lotus gives out first details on its new 2+2 sportscar Eagle

Lotus project Eagle
Eagerly anticipated and making its official global debut at the British Motorshow in London on July 22nd, the first all-new car from Lotus since the iconic Elise in 1995, will enter the sportscar market as the only mid-engined 2+2 in production.

The new car, which is known only by its project name ‘Eagle’, is a more holistic offering than the Elise and Exige models that have been so massively popular with track day enthusiasts.

Lotus Clark Type-25 Elise SC Special Edition
Jim Clark is considered by many as the finest and most naturally gifted racing driver of all time. He won the F1 World Championship twice for Team Lotus in 1963 and in 1965.

In total, he won 25 Grand Prix races and was the first Briton to win the Indianapolis 500. Clark won a third of all the F1 races he entered, as well as racing in other formulae such as F2, F3 and Touring Cars.

Spyker and Lotus sign cooperative agreement

Spyker and Lotus have reached agreement on the outline of their intended cooperation, which will include a Parts and Platform Commonality Agreement (PPCA), a Parts and Accessories Supply Agreement pursuant to which Lotus would provide certain parts for Spyker’s new C8 Aileron super sportscar, and a concept Design and Engineering Agreement relating to all of Spyker’s future models.

The parties’ objective is to reduce costs of parts and components by sharing technology.

Lotus Cars and Sony Entertainment celebrate release of Gran Tourismo 5 Prologue

The eagerly anticipated ‘Gran Turismo 5 Prologue™’ for PlayStation®3 was released by Sony Computer Entertainment UK at a recent launch event in London’s Marble Arch and was supported by Lotus Cars who has two versions of the iconic Elise in the game.

One of the capital’s largest underground car parks was transformed into the GT5 Pit Lane which boasted some of the stars of the game which is heralded as one of the most realistic to date. Alongside the legendary 1996 Lotus Elise and the now iconic 2004 Elise 111R, other heroes of the game turned out to support the event including Audi R8, Aston Martin DB9, Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper SRT10, Ford GT, TVR Tuscan Speed 6, Ford GT and a Ferrari 599.

Lotus Celebrates Diamond Anniversary

A variety of high profile events have been planned for 2008 that will pay homage to the heritage of the marque and look forward to the future of the international brand.

The pinnacle of the campaign is a landmark event held at the Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, England on 14th September 2008 and will be opened by Hazel and Clive Chapman.

The new entry level Europa is priced at ?27,950 MSRP / 37,500, with the range topping Europa SE available for a competitive ?32,995 MSRP / 41,500 (Euro prices are without taxes, delivery & other related costs).
These new Europa variants have been designed and developed especially for European customers and will be sold exclusively across Europe from June 2008.

Group Lotus plc has teamed up with Hot Wheels®, the famous global die-cast brand, to design, develop and produce a Lotus Hot Wheels® Concept vehicle. This 1:5 scale model was on display to the world at the annual SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Centre between 29th October and 2nd November 2007, and a 1:64 scale version of the design will become part of the Hot Wheels® product range in spring 2008.

exige sport 240Lotus Australia has announced the fastest, most-desirable and exclusively tuned Lotus Exige to ever go on sale in Australia, the Lotus Sport 240.
Conceived and designed by Lotus Cars Australia, the special edition Exige Sport 240 will make its world debut at the Australian International Motor Show in October where it will officially go on sale. With power improved to 179kW, this will also mark the first production car in Australia fitted with driver-adjustable stand-alone traction control, similar to the systems currently used in Formula 1.
