Newly formed Liberty Electric Cars Ltd is investing £30 million in the re engineering of large luxury cars and 4 x 4s into emission-free, high performance electric vehicles. The company will design and manufacture a unique electric drive-train platform to power a wide range of large vehicles, which will also have the flexibility to incorporate emerging technologies.
Annual vehicle production, which will include the world’s first zero emission, electrically powered Range Rover, will be in tens of thousands and will create around 250 new technology and manufacturing jobs.

Reuters reports that Audi sees great opportunities in electric cars and will offer automobiles with no exhaust emissions within ten years, its top executive told a German weekly.
Rupert Stadler told Welt am Sonntag in an interview published on Sunday that he expects diesel and battery technology to dominate in the coming five to ten years.
“By then we will offer cars without exhaust emissions,” Stadler said.

With the dollar steadily falling against the Euro during the past year, the Tesla Roadster has grown more expensive to build because some components are sourced abroad and a lot of the construction is being done in Hethel, England.
Selling the car in Europe would provide the company a better balance between income and cost currencies.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation announces the display of the i MiEV*1 new-generation electric vehicle at the New York International Automobile Show. The company plans to use the vehicles in a joint fleet testing program in cooperation with select U.S. power companies in the fall of this year. At the show, which opened to the press on March 19 and will open to the public on March 21, the company’s booth is given over to a wide range of exhibits that demonstrate MMC’s advanced environmental technology.

The problem with all-electric vehicles and hybrids is that they are very quiet. At least it seems to be the problem for Fisker. Driving a sports car without any sound would definetely seem weird.
Imagine taking your 911 GT3 to the track and driving around with no sound. With some cars the sound is part of driving.
Fisker might just have the solution to ease your concerns.

The all-electric Lightning GT might just be the world’s first green supercar. It’s as clean as the Tesla Roadster, as quick as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and as pricey as the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.
“Without a significant positive shift in perception,” the company says, “electric motoring will remain a large compromise in the eyes of driving enthusiasts and therefore fail to impress the masses.”

“I drive a Toyota Prius and I have one of the Lexus hybrids,” he says. “Next year I’m getting a Tesla Roadster, which I’m very, very excited about. It’s an electric car, gets about 250 miles to the charge and is fast as hell! I can’t wait to get it. Driving a green car is one of the ways we can all do a little more, so I’m trying to do that.”
