The production Veyron was shown for the first time on October 19, 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Development of this supercar began with the 1999 EB 18/4 “Veyron” concept car.
Veyron is powered by a 1,001 PS (987 hp/736 kW) W16 engine. It is able to achieve a top speed of 407.47 km/h (253.19 mph). The car reached full production in September 2005, and is handcrafted in a factory Volkswagen built near the former Bugatti headquarters in Château St Jean in Molsheim (Alsace, France).
Over the last weekend Top Gear was filming one of their eposides for the new season in Abu Dhabi. In addition they were doing photo shoots in different locations. At first the producers were looking for one Veyron but were offered three! Surely you can’t find another place in the world, where you can find 3 Veyrons in 48 hours.
Owners asked to stay anonymous. By the way one of them(the aluminium one) was Veyron Pur Sang that only had a total production of FIVE.
Green motoring organization called City Car Club conducted a survey to see who are the top celebrity polluters and what they drive. Survey shows that the X Factor judge’s cars have the highest average level of carbon dioxide emissions per kilometre. Most polluting car on the list is Bugatti Veyron which emits 574g/km of CO2.
But who cares? Think how many so called celebrities do we have and how much do they drive their super ultra expensive cars? And now think how many people do we have who drive daily their huge pickup trucks and how much they pollute!

In the beginning of this month, Bugatti’s spokesman Georges Keller confirmed that the Volkswagen owned company will indeed be producing a targa-top version of the Veyron. The 6.0L W16 engine will be tuned down a bit to produce a total of 987-hp.
While the coupé costs £840,000, the Targa is likely to be close to £900,000!

The very first copy of a Bugatti Veyron, the one which Bugatti brought to the Beijing Motor Show, has been sold to a Chinese customer for $3.6m. Maybe somebody should have told him that he can get the same car everywhere else for “just” 30% of that …
The customer will fly to Bugatti’s Molsheim headquarters to pick out the color scheme and options (apparently no one told him he could do it online), and pay a whopping 25 million yuan (approximately $3.6 million, more than twice the sticker price) for the privilege of owning the first Veyron in China.

The Grimaldi family has ruled over Monaco since 1292 and the state’s sovereignty was officially recognised by the Franco-Monegasque Treaty of 1861.
It is often regarded as a tax haven, and many of its inhabitants are wealthy. And those wealthy people do have usually some of the nicest and most exotic cars in the world.
In the video after the jump, the Wall Street Journal seek to understand and explain – the justification for such an outlandish expenditure. WSJ will look into customized Veyron by Hermes.
