Today General Motors President and Chief Operating Officer Fritz Henderson and Ed Welburn, vice president of Global Design revealed the all-new Chevrolet Cruze at a special premiere event at the “Le Pavillon Dauphine”, located in the heart of Paris.

Media and guests got a first-hand look at the arching roof-line of the Cruze that extends from the steeply raked windshield to its sloping rear pillars and short rear deck, bringing coupe-like proportions to a compact sedan.

Chevrolet Orlando: New details and images revealed

Based on the recently announced all-new Cruze compact sedan, the Orlando show car carries Chevrolet’s signature design language into a new vehicle segment.

With flared fenders instead of a flat side-body, Orlando has a muscular stance that gives it the appearance of a sport utility vehicle, yet it offers dynamic ride and handling, excellent fuel efficiency and easy entry thanks to its car-based architecture.

GM announces $370 Million investment for new small engine manufacturing in North America

GM will invest $370 million in the U.S. to build a new manufacturing plant for its global 4-cylinder engines in Flint, Michigan. New GM engines will power Chevrolet Cruze and electrify Chevy Volt.

The plant will begin production in the U.S. in 2010, and will be the exclusive manufacturing facility in North America to produce the Chevrolet Volt’s range extending engine.

The investment includes construction of the new 552,000 square foot plant, machinery, equipment and special tooling to support production of the new 4-cylinder engines.

GM will cut Corvette production

Corvette Z06Last time GM had to cut Corvette production was in the mid-nineties. Now with the whole economy down GM will halt production of the iconic sports car next month to lessen supplies during this so-called automotive downturn.

Corvette’s production will be cut by an estimated 20-30 cars per day and layoffs will effect up to 9% of the Bowling Green Assembly Plant’s workforce.

Gulf Arab investors might buy Hummer from GM

GM is having problems with Hummer sales around the world. With high gas prices the gas guzzling SUV is not a success anymore.

Last week Indian automobile company Mahindra & Mahindra announced that thet are not interested buying Hummer.

World\'s largest rooftop solar power station being built in Zaragoza
Zaragoza. General Motors Europe, part of the leading global automotive group, Veolia Environnement, world leader in environmental services, the energy developer Clairvoyant Energy and the Government of Aragon, Spain, today announced a further commitment to energy efficiency with the construction of the world’s largest capacity rooftop solar power station.

Veolia Environnement and Clairvoyant Energy are building a solar power station with a capacity of 10 Mega Watts at GM’s Zaragoza plant, which assembles more than 480.000 vehicles a year. As part of the scheme initiated by GM, the rooftop power station will be owned and operated by a joint-venture company comprised of Veolia Environnement, Clairvoyant Energy and the Government of Aragon.

GM Delivers First Hybrids to Dubai Government

Chevrolet Malibu & Tahoe Hybrid Taxis in Dubai
General Motors today delivered its first hybrid vehicles in the Middle East to the Government of Dubai and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The vehicles, which include the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid and the Chevrolet Malibu hybrid, are part of a ground-breaking project that involves a 12-month trial using the vehicles as public taxis that could eventually lead to one of the largest hybrid fleets in the world.
