We have seen the BMW X1 spy photos and now here we have the first official images of the BMW Concept X1 that will be revaled today at the Paris Motor Show.
We still can’t figure out why and to whom the X1 is targeted. We understand X5, but the X3 is already hard to understand and now X1! 3-series and 1-series already look very similar. There are already people who can’t tell X3 from X5 in traffic. We are pretty sure the X1 will jeopardize X3 sales. People who have never heard of X1 will most likely think it is the facelifted X3.

Just few days ago we showed you spy photos of the 2009 BMW Z4 wearing swirl-patterned vinyl wrapped camo. Now artist Jon Sibal has created a rendering based on the recent spy photos what the 2009 BMW E89 Z4 might look like once officially introduced.
Like the previous renderings he has analyzed all the details and we are pretty sure that the actual production model is very similar to the one Jon has created.

HARTGE has given the world’s first inline six-cylinder engine with twin turbo-chargers and a second generation direct-injection system a power boast of 44 hp (350 hp now) while maintaining its extremely good fuel consumption of only 9.2 litres per 100 kilometres (EU combined).

We first showed you the X1 prototype in June with very heavy disguise on the Nürburgring.
X1 is the fourth model in the X-series after the X6, X5 and X3. It is more of a crossover than SUV. X1 is based on the 1-series and shares its platform with the upcoming Mini Crossman.
X1 is most likely to debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show with sales beginning in 2010.

Everything seems to be getting smaller and more fuel efficient. SUV’s get smaller versions and they sell quit well. BMW has X5 and its smaller brother X3. Audi has Q7 and Q5, VW has Touareq and Tiquan.
Now Autozeitung reports that BMW plans to produce a Z2 roadster that will be based on the platfrom of the 1-series.

New Z4 will share its platform with the current 3-series and will also likely get most of the engine variants from there including the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 from the 335i. Rumor is that the Z4 will also get a diesel engine.
Upcoming Z4 has been inspired by the CS Concept. It has a wider grille giving it a wider overall look.
It will get a soft-top just like the current one. Rumor is that it will also get a fully retractable hard top to better compete with Mercedes-Benz SLK.

Chief designer Michele Viandante of the Aachen-based BMW tuner has developed a “stunning” update for the M-Technik version in every detail. 1-series gets a new attachments for the front and rear skirt. The front part, almost totally vertical as standard, is enhanced by extensions which protrude forwards like a spoiler edge.
A further design feature are the greatly enlarged side air intakes on the front spoiler. This gives the car a greedier, more competitive look. At the same time, the chromed webs give an air of elegance and luxury.

It is not very often that you see German cars tuned by companies outside of Europe. You would think that Japanese car tuners are specialized only on Nissan’s and Toyota’s, but our friends at Wald International in Japan have created a tuning package for the last 3-series E90 Sedan.
Wald Sports Line tuning package demo cars were created in two colors. In white and gun-metallic color.

BMW is testing the next X3 with the worst(it is just so annoying and probably works for BMW hiding all the little details) camouflage we have seen in a while(Audi gets the first place with its A7 prototype that was covered with a huge cloth). The car looks quit similar to the current X3. Main changes will are most likely the grill and new rear and head lights.
Rumor is that the new X3 gets two new engines. New 3.0-liter I-6 turbodiesel engine in conjunction with the dual-clutch transmission. And a new 3.0-liter turbo L6 gasoline engine producing 326hp.

We just reported yesterday that BMW won’t be producing the M1 Hommage concept. Now BMW has also cancelled plans to produce a lighter, sharper and faster CSL version of the E92 M3.
The E93 BMW M3 CSL was supposed to be powered by the same 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 470 horsepower. To save weight, BMW was going to drop the radio, navigation and air-conditioning. A lot of details were supposed to be replaced with carbon to save weight.

BMW M1 Hommage concept is one of the most interesting concepts we have seen in a while. We really hoped that we can see that actual car soon on a major car show. Sadly according to AutoTelegraaf BMW has no intention of producing M1 concept so it could compete with other supercars such as Audi R8, Porsche 911 and upcoming Mercedes performance models.
Why? Instead of focusing energy on supercars BMW is going to focus on green technologies said Klaus Draeger, board member of BMW and the man in charge for EfficientDynamics.

In July we brought you spy photos of the X6 Active Hybrid from the hot weather tests in Death Valley. The car had very little disguise and looked like it was at its final tests. Now X6 hybrid has been spotted in Germany with a big (nasty) scoop on the hood. We thought that it was just only on first prototypes as on the tests in Death Valley the hood did not have the huge scoop.
It is most likely so that they can cover something. What it is we have no idea. We are quit sure that BMW will get rid of it. Just makes us wonder what is it for and why they did not have it on the X6 that was tested in a sunny Death Valley. For comparison they had it on X5 hybrid that was tested around the same time.

AC Schnitzers last project is ACS3 Sport Cabriolet that is based on the BMW M3 Cabriolet.
The 309 kW / 420 HP V8 engine is (as yet) untouched, but in the end, extra sporting performance can be achieved in a different way, as suspension guru Manfred Wollgarten knows: “With our racing suspension set up on the North Loop, we’ve thoroughly mastered the physics of driving”.

The factor with which the new D3 Coupe is best compared to its rivals is its Power-To-Weight ratio; an equation commonly applied in motor sport.
But, with heavily increased personal taxation designed to encourage energy saving and lowered emissions, the calculation is assuming wider relevance to drivers - especially those in the select niche at which this latest ALPINA is aimed.
