While mum is still the word from Nissan regarding its upcoming supercar, the GT-R, we have been able to dig up some key bits of information confirming our notion that this is going to be one helluva fast car. The all-new 2+2 will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-6 rumored to produce more than 450 bhp. Power will be transferred to all four wheels via a slick new semiautomatic gearbox.

With a power-to-weight ratio similar to that of the Porsche 911 Turbo, expect the GT-R to run to 60 mph in about 4 seconds. That it will compete directly against the 911 Turbo should come as no surprise, especially when pre-production prototypes of the Nissan have been spotted testing all over the world with the Porsche in tow. The asking price for the quasi-exotic will be in the neighborhood of $70,000, and the production version of the car will make its official debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in late October. The on-sale date in the U.S. will be in the spring of 2008.
